Our story

How IIFM grew from a functional medicine education program into a global institute for Integrated Functional Medicine.

  1. Roots in VitaOne Education

IIFM began as VitaOne Education, which built structured functional medicine education for doctors, nutritionists and health coaches, and became an international partner of The Institute for Functional Medicine.

  2. The 6 month program

Dr. Anish Musa founded the program now known as Functional Medicine and Clinical Nutrition, a 6 month program combining recorded lectures, live case discussion and practical tools, to help practitioners move from treating symptoms to addressing underlying causes.

  3. A growing practitioner community

Hundreds of doctors, nutritionists, dietitians and health coaches have completed the program and applied its methods in their practice, and their feedback has shaped how the program is taught.

  4. IIFM

VitaOne Education became IIFM, the Institute for Integrated and Functional Medicine: a global institute with Integrated Functional Medicine as its defining approach, serving practitioners across countries and professions.

What has not changed

The same commitment runs through every stage: practical education, taught by practising clinicians, that helps practitioners understand why their patients are unwell and what can be done about it.
